I actually made a little note next to this point in the Watchtower too. I found it interesting that it states "The Principles behind the Mosaic Law have not lost any significance or value". But they give no supporting evidence for that statement and they seem to like to pick which principles still apply and which ones are no longer applicable. I guess they just choose to take they ones that they can manipulate to guilt their followers.

WT Sunday march 16
by bobld ini cannot believe how stupid jw are and their reasoning.they miss the point that the lord jesus christ done away with the mosaic law.they live in the o/t of ritualistic practices of worship which is daily sacrifices of killing animals for sins=to wbts practices of going from door to door.that was just a shitty article.. why did the old foggie waste their resources of offering the best fat sheep for their sins.why not obey and not sin, they new the law.i know not to drink and drive so i do not have to pay the price because i obey the law.. and the wt comments like we have make sacrifices and it costs us something for our service to god,ie car,gas effort going from door to door..

Some of them might not be looking for clicks as much as they are for links. The more links they have from a site that is considered credible from a Google viewpoint the more credence their site is give and the higher they climb in the search engine. I might be wrong because I never click on their links but it’s a possibility.

if Google+ takes over from facebook how will the Watchtower react?
by slimboyfat init seems to me it's only a matter of time before google+ takes over from facebook as the most popular social network.. a few jws i know have invited me to their google+ circles, or whatever you call it, in the last few weeks.
maybe they are more relaxed about using this network because it has not been condemned at the meetings the same way facebook has.. it occurs to me that the watchtower might be less likely to actually name google+ as forbidden fruit purely because they are confused about the name (i'm a bit confused about the name) and it they start condemning google they might sound like they mean to stop people using the search engine and just sound a bit daft.. so is this a social network that jws can take part in with impunity?.

Before there was Facebook they had My Space and Ringo and countless other social network sites and the WTBTS would name the more popular site MySpace in their talks but they would also make sure to emphasize that they were talking about all forms of social networking. If Google + becomes more popular then Facebook even if they were reluctant to speak of it by name they would just resurrect their rhetoric on 'social networking' sites and condemn it as from the Devil and anyone who insists on using it would be showing an independent and possibly brazen sprit.

JWFacts.com has an entire article on this very subject. It is under the link 'medical advice'. Here are some of the articles that he lists there. I actually looked at a few of these from our KH library. All I can say is 'what a bunch of crazy crap'. If any other religious organization had said this you can bet the WTBS would be all over them exposing their 'foolish and dangerous' medical knowledge.

You can try but I don’t think you will ever succeed in getting everything. I am pretty sure that they might be willing to give you your publisher cards but even they specifically state that while a publisher can request to see their records at any time the actual card is not the property of the publisher but WTS. And they would never give up the information that is kept form judicial committees. They might not even acknowledge that it actually exists.
The author of JWfacts did get his records but he actually only got copies of them. The Bethal branch retained the originals. Queensland is a state of Australia, so I think you would have laws allowing you to get copies of information they have collected on you but not originals. If it is important to you I would suggest checking with someone in authority who knows the laws and their current interpretation.

00DAD-Very true REGURGITATED is probably the more fitting expression. But it shouldn’t surprise us that they are just repeating old themes, they have been doing it forever.

From personal experience I think that many of the newer born ins and converts are not aware of the actual history and teachings that predate the 80s. If you mention the 607 insanity or 1975 or how bat shit nuts Rutherford was they have no clue what you are talking about and I think the guys in NY know this so they are not worried about beating a dead horse with repeated nonsense.
On another note I remember working on public talks and finding the same crap repeated over and over verbatim just decades apart. It always made me laugh at how unoriginal the writers were. They just cannibalized earlier peoples nonsense.

WTS position on DF'ed family members
by harleybear inwhat is the wts going to do if a non df'ed individual is the primary care provided for say an elderly family member or a handicapped child or parent?
many of us are in the position that without our assisting these folks they would have no where to turn.
does not the bible admonish a responsiblity to these loved ones??

I have not posted here before but I there is always a first. Here is what the elders manual gives for refrence material in this type of a situation. They may not like the association but the fact is they can't do anything about it. Even a person who holds positions within the cong. would be hard to remove. They may try to bully or pressure someone to stop but if you are informed you can shut them down.
*** lv p. 208 How to Treat a Disfellowshipped Person ***
What if a relative is disfellowshipped? In such a case, the close bond between family members can pose a real test of loyalty. How should we treat a disfellowshipped relative? We cannot here cover every situation that may arise, but let us focus on two basic ones.
In some instances, the disfellowshipped family member may still be living in the same home as part of the immediate household. Since his being disfellowshipped does not sever the family ties, normal day-to-day family activities and dealings may continue. Yet, by his course, the individual has chosen to break the spiritual bond between him and his believing family. So loyal family members can no longer have spiritual fellowship with him. For example, if the disfellowshipped one is present, he would not participate when the family gets together to study the Bible. However, if the disfellowshipped one is a minor child, the parents are still responsible to instruct and discipline him. Hence, loving parents may arrange to conduct a Bible study with the child.*** km 8/02 p. 4 pars. 9-11 Display Christian Loyalty When a Relative Is Disfellowshipped ***
9 Relatives Not in the Household: “The situation is different if the disfellowshipped or disassociated one is a relative living outside the immediate family circle and home,” states The Watchtower of April 15, 1988, page 28. “It might be possible to have almost no contact at all with the relative. Even if there were some family matters requiring contact, this certainly would be kept to a minimum,” in harmony with the divine injunction to “quit mixing in company with anyone” who is guilty of sinning unrepentantly. (1 Cor. 5:11) Loyal Christians should strive to avoid needless association with such a relative, even keeping business dealings to an absolute minimum.—See also The Watchtower of September 15, 1981, pages 29-30.
10 The Watchtower addresses another situation that can arise: “What if a close relative, such as a son or a parent who does not live in the home, is disfellowshiped and subsequently wants to move back there? The family could decide what to do depending on the situation. For example, a disfellowshiped parent may be sick or no longer able to care for himself financially or physically. The Christian children have a Scriptural and moral obligation to assist. (1 Tim. 5:8) . . . What is done may depend on factors such as the parent’s true needs, his attitude and the regard the head of the household has for the spiritual welfare of the household.”—The Watchtower of September 15, 1981, pages 28-9.
11 As for a child, the same article continues: “Sometimes Christian parents have accepted back into the home for a time a disfellowshiped child who has become physically or emotionally ill. But in each case the parents can weigh the individual circumstances. Has a disfellowshiped son lived on his own, and is he now unable to do so? Or does he want to move back primarily because it would be an easier life? What about his morals and attitude? Will he bring ‘leaven’ into the home?—Gal. 5:9.”
